Altamount or (more precisely) Altamont Road is a luxury residential street in south Mumbai, alongside Pedder road that meets at the intersection known as Kemp Corner. Along the way are the consulates of Indonesia and South Africa; on the road connecting Carmichael Road are the Belgian, Chinese and Japanese consulates. The road has been in the news lately because of construction on its crest of a 27-storey house by the Indian industrialist, Mukesh Ambani, which when completed will cover an area larger than the Palace of Versailles. Recently, it was noted as the 10th most costly street in the world. Altamont Road home is an area for the very rich; as well as home to several Bollywood stars. Mafatlal complex is also located here, and "Aza" designers store.

Altamount Road was officially renamed "SK Barodawalla Marg" several years ago, but residents and taxi drivers in the city, and others continue to refer to it under its former name. It is a place of great beauty with trees and heritage buildings some of them being the official residence of the President of the Bombay Port Trust and the residence of the Municipal Commissioner of Mumbai. It also contains the official residence of the Chief, Western Railways. The bunglow for the Bombay Port Trust was established by Vittel, who also designed the Gateway of India, Ballard Estate.
