Govandi is a suburb in the east of Mumbai, India. Govandi is served by the railway line from the port suburb of Bombay.
Govandi (East), with zip code PIN 400 088, has excellent infrastructure. Deonar Village is home to the Telecom Exchange, near Sion-Trombay Highway. Telecom Factory Road, Deonar leading to the village, is now home to modern housing complexes, like the Orchid CHS, Raheja Acropolis, Guru Dutt CHS Ltd., Sai Simran CHS Ltd., Neelkanth Towers and Jeevan Mahal. The International Institute for Population Sciences, TISS, and Shah & Anchor Polytechnics are also nearby. Govandi (West) however, is in stark contrast to Govandi (East). The television series Shaktiman was filmed here. The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai has about 90% of its staff quarters located here. Govandi (West) also houses a few cottage and small scale industries. Also housed are 600 tenements, with the New Deonar Municipal Colony, which has the biggest compound in Mumbai.
Remarkable sites in Govandi (West) are Deonar Municipal Colony, Deonar Abattoir, Tata Nagar, Lumbini Bauge, Sankara Colony, Assisi Nagar, Indian Oil Nagar, Mhada buildings Transist, Shivaji Nagar Colony Lotus, Kamla Raman Nagar, Zakir Hussain Nagar, Baigan Wadi Maharashtra Nagar etc. It also has many pharmaceutical companies such as Hindustan Biologicals, Manish Pharmaceuticals.
Govandi (East) has its own fire station serving the area.
