Jogeshwari is the name of a railway station in Mumbai in the western Railway. The Western Trunk Road Bombay was extended from Bandra to Jogeshwari in 1915.In 1945, the collector who was  incharge of the "suburban district" administered Joeshwari.

Also Jogeshwari is linked to the central Suburbs with the help of JVLR which is better known as Jogeshwari-vikroli link Road. Joeshwari caves are located in Eastern part of the subarb.They are one of the oldest caves that represent the hindu religion and are dedicated to God Shiva and Goddess Jogeshwari.Hence the subarb is named after the goddess.

Saraswati Baug and Malcolm Baug are two ancient Colonies Situated in Jogeshwari.Malcolm Baug consist of numerious small bunglows belonging to the Parsi community.Saraswati baug was built in the 1920's famous for its Rameshwar Mandir & Sadbhakti Mandir.
